Wrongful Death Claims Are Possible After 3 Teens Die In Crash
A crash between a car and a New Jersey bus on Memorial Day led to three fatalities, while several other people were injured. Five New Jersey teenagers were travelling in a compact car on Franklin Boulevard when they collided with a transit bus carrying eight passengers. Wrongful death claims, as well as personal injury claims, could be forthcoming in the aftermath of this tragic accident.
Just before 2:00 p.m., the compact car in which the teenagers were traveling crossed over the center of the boulevard and hit the bus, which was traveling in the opposite direction. All the occupants in the car were injured, while several bus passengers and its driver were also injured. At least nine emergency departments across the region reacted to calls for assistance.
Two of the teenagers, an 18-year-old and a 14-year-old, were critically injured and died at the accident scene. The teenage driver, an 18-year-old girl, and the remaining teenage passengers were taken to a medical center in the vicinity. One of the hospitalized passengers, a 16-year-old girl, was admitted to ICU and sadly passed away the next day. The accident is currently under investigation. There is no indication why the compact car crossed over into the way of the oncoming bus and authorities are calling on witnesses to come forward.
If there is a sufficient amount of evidence that the 18-year-old driver of the compact car acted negligently, the families of the deceased New Jersey teenagers may elect to institute wrongful death claims. Any of the victims who were seriously injured may also have the right to choose to file personal injury claims. Successfully litigated civil claims may assist the victims of motor vehicle accidents and their families in dealing with the unexpected financial burdens brought about by the incidents. Any awarded compensation could help to ease the pain and suffering of the families as they struggle through an understandably difficult time.
