The Tragedy Of Fatal Motor Vehicle Accidents
A fatal motor vehicle accident in the early hours of a recent Sunday morning left the families of two teenagers dealing with the tragic incident. The single motor vehicle accident in New Jersey resulted in one seriously injured teenager while leaving another dead. This incident is one more example of the tragedy brought about by fatal motor vehicle accidents across the United States.
According to reports, the 18-year-old vehicle operator apparently disregarded a stop sign, travelled over the curb of a cul-de-sac and then entered a forested area and hit a tree. Emergency personnel had to free the 18-year-old vehicle operator from the vehicle. He was evacuated by helicopter to a nearby medical center. His condition is listed as critical. The 19-year-old male passenger traveling in the front seat could not be revived at the scene of the accident.
The cause of the accident is under investigation. Although this tragic happening will influence the lives of both families, it remains necessary to establish if the vehicle operator was negligent in any way. If it is proven that the teenage vehicle operator was negligent, the family of the deceased may elect to institute a wrongful death claim.
In New Jersey, families of the victims of fatal motor vehicle accidents may have the right to seek compensation for their pain and suffering by means of a civil suit. A successful wrongful death claim may assist in providing monetary relief to the family during a difficult time. Damages awarded in a successful wrongful death claim can assist the family with the funeral and burial costs, as well as possible loss of income.
