New Jersey EMT Dies In Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident
The death of a New Jersey EMT involved in a car crash at an intersection was not only felt by her family, but also by the North Stelton Volunteer Fire Company. The 22-year-old woman lost her life only days before she was to start medical school. Police reported that the fatal motor vehicle accident is still under investigation.
According to preliminary police reports, the young EMT was traveling in an ambulance that was driven by a 24-year-old colleague. They were on their way to provide assistance in a nearby town when the ambulance was T-boned by another vehicle. It was reported that the lights and siren of the ambulance were activated when they went through the intersection.
After the collision, the ambulance careened into another vehicle before rolling onto its passenger side. The woman lost her life in this accident, and the ambulance driver, along with the driver of the vehicle that struck them, were transported to a hospital. Their injuries were reported to be non-life threatening. No charges were apparently filed but may follow, pending the investigation.
Losing a loved one who was on the brink of adulthood and filled with plans for the future naturally brings about extreme trauma for the surviving family members. At the same time, they will have to cope with the high costs of end-of-life arrangements. They retain the right to pursue financial relief by filing a wrongful death claim in a New Jersey civil court. For such a claim to be successful, negligence of another party in the fatal motor vehicle accident will have to be established before the court. Additional financial losses that are substantiated by documented details may form part of any monetary award.
