Truck Accidents In New Jersey Claim Lives

A New Jersey woman died in a truck accident on March 31. The 50-year-old woman’s car was hit from behind by a semi-truck at approximately 12:30 p.m. As is the case with many New Jersey truck accidents, this accident led to Route 9 being shut down in the region of Old Bridge.

The deceased was traveling in the southbound lane when her car was rear-ended. According to authorities, although she died in the accident, it has not yet been established what precisely caused her death. The driver of the semi-truck escaped injury in the accident. At this time, charges have not been filed and police are calling on people with more information to come forward.

A tragedy such as this accident generally leaves the family of a victim devastated, while at the same time having to face financial hardship. Not only will they have to pay burial and funeral costs, but cope with the loss of income due to the accident. However, if the investigation into the accident reveals that the driver of the semi-truck was negligent in any way, the surviving relatives of the deceased may elect to initiate a wrongful death claim.

In New Jersey, wrongful death claims may be filed in the case of fatal truck accidents. Damages awarded in successfully presented claims may assist the families left behind to recover from unexpected expenses such as burial and funeral costs. Apart from assisting with the unexpected costs, such an award ward may provide the family with a way to overcome a sudden loss of income resulting from the accident as well.
