New Jersey Truck Accidents Can Result In Multiple Injuries

Police in New Jersey are looking for witnesses to a recent accident that resulted in several injuries. A public transport bus and a pickup truck were the two vehicles involved in the accident. The incident resulted in motorists being rerouted for hours and is an example of how truck accidents can cause major delays on New Jersey roadways.

According to police reports, the bus was traveling south when it approached an intersection in the road. Upon crossing the intersection, the bus collided with a pickup truck that was coming through the intersection on an adjoining road. The crash forced both vehicles off of the roads and into the center median.

The female bus operator had to be extricated from the vehicle by fire fighters. She was first transported to a nearby school and then airlifted by helicopter to a local hospital. Although the 45-year-old male operating the pickup truck refused to be treated at the accident scene, his three passengers had to be transported by ambulance to the hospital. These victims included two children and a 48-year-old female. An ambulance also had to transport the only bus passenger, a sixty-year-old male, to a nearby hospital.

The severity of all the victim’s injuries varied. A representative of the bus company indicated that none of the victims appeared to have suffered life-threatening injuries. Traffic was rerouted for approximately six hours in order to investigate the accident. The investigation remains ongoing as witnesses are still needed to assist in the matter.

In New Jersey, victims of truck accidents who have suffered serious injuries may be entitled to file a personal injury claim. In this instance, one of the two people operating the respective vehicles was most likely at fault. If the investigation shows that one of the drivers was guilty of negligence, then the injured passengers may have the right to seek compensation for their pain and suffering by means of a civil suit. Monetary damages awarded from a successful claim could help the victims better cope with medical bills, rehabilitation costs and any lost wages due to missing time from work.
