On a recent morning at the end of January, a truck operator suffered serious injuries in a multiple-vehicle accident. The early morning accident involving two cars and two trucks led to the sporadic closure of the northbound highway lanes for about two hours. Apparently, one of the trucks involved was carrying a load of fuel, but, luckily, there were no reports of any leaks. This accident once again illustrates the impact of truck accidents on New Jersey highways.
Police report that one truck lost a tire rim which struck the other truck and caused it to overturn. The operator of the overturned truck was trapped in his truck and had to be freed from his vehicle. He suffered serious injuries and had to be airlifted to a nearby hospital.
Along with the two trucks, two other cars were also involved in the wreck. This is an example of how easy it is for truck accidents to lead to multiple-vehicle collisions. Fortunately, other than the truck driver, nobody else suffered any injuries.
In New Jersey, victims of truck accidents who have suffered serious injuries may be entitled to file personal injury claims. In this instance, the cause of the truck losing a tire rim will have to be investigated. If the investigation indicates any negligence on the side of the owner of the truck, the injured victim may have the right to seek compensation for his pain and suffering by means of a civil suit. Monetary damages awarded from a successful claim could help the victim better cope with medical bills, rehabilitation costs and any lost wages due to missing time from work.
