Fatal New Jersey Accident May Result In A Wrongful Death Claim

The southbound lanes of a New Jersey highway had to be closed on a recent Saturday afternoon as a result of a fatal accident involving two vehicles. The highway lanes had to be closed for the investigation conducted by the New Jersey State Police. Very little information regarding the accident is available. However, depending on the outcome of the investigation, wrongful deathclaims may follow.

The collision between a sedan and a pickup truck happened just before 3 p.m. The driver of the sedan and her front female passenger died on impact, while a boy and girl in the back of the sedan had to be airlifted to a regional medical facility. The female traveling in the front seat of the truck sustained minor injuries and was taken to a nearby medical facility. The other occupants of the truck — a man and two children — were taken to the same facility for observation. Little information about the severity of the injuries suffered by the victims was immediately available.

The investigation will hopefully shed light on the cause of the accident. It is possible that the outcome of the investigation may prove negligence on the part of one of the two drivers. Depending on what is determined, the families of the deceased victims may choose to institute wrongful death claims. Furthermore, the injured victims or their families may choose to file personal injury claims.

In New Jersey, the damages awarded in a successful wrongful death or personal injury claim may bring relief to the victims and their families in a time of need. Seriously injured victims, as well as the families of deceased victims, may have the right to seek compensation for their pain and suffering by means of a civil suit. Monetary damages awarded from civil claims could help the victims better cope with medical bills and rehabilitation costs.
