Couple Suffer Critical Injuries In New Jersey Car Accident

At least three people were injured in an early evening accident involving four vehicles. The car accident happened shortly after 5:30 p.m. on a recent Wednesday in August. New Jersey officers arriving at the scene of the accident found that the vehicles had rear-ended one another.

The accident happened while three of the cars involved were stopped at a traffic light, waiting for it to change. Reports indicate that a 19-year-old driver crashed the pick-up truck he was driving into the back of a stationary sedan, which was a Camry. The impact forced the Camry to crash into the car in front of it, which in turn led to the next car also being rear-ended.

Both the occupants of the Camry, the 62-year-old driver and her husband had to be transported to a medical center in the area by medical helicopter. The female driver’s condition was considered critical, while her husband’s condition was seen as serious. The 19-year-old was taken to a medical center by ambulance after he complained of neck and head pain.

The accident is currently under investigation and it is not yet clear if any charges will be filed. However, should the evidence clearly indicate negligence on the part of the pick-up truck driver, the seriously injured victims of the car accident may choose to file personal injury claims against the alleged negligent driver. In New Jersey, a seriously injured victim of a car accident may file a civil claim for monetary damages arising from the accident if negligence is proved. Successfully litigated personal injury claims may provide for the reimbursement of any monetary damages for pain and suffering, medical costs, rehabilitation costs and loss of income. Damages awarded in successfully presented claims may assist the victims or their families in recovering from the stress of unexpected expenses.
